This application allows you to link a Revit schedule to an Excel File. The information can be edited and updated both ways in Revit or Excel. It also allows you to add or remove schedule fields and create new shared parameters from your Excel file
Go to the G.plus tab >> Data management panel.
This panel will be enabled only in a Schedule view.
Link file (watch the video)
This button will link your schedule to an Excel file
- Open your Schedule view;
- Click on G.plus tab >> Data management >>Link file
- Choose between a Schedule of Instances and a Schedule of types;
- Indicate the location and the name of your Excel linked file. It can be an existing file or you can create a new file;
- The linked Excel file path will be visible on the left.
To create a Schedule of Types, go to your Schedule Properties/Sorting Grouping, sort your instances by Type parameter and uncheck the “Itemize every instance” box. It will allow you to import and create Types parameters.
Export (watch the video)
This button will export your schedule in the linked Excel file.
- Open a schedule view.
- Click on G.plus tab >> Data management panel >> Export
The following information will not be exported:
- calculated ﬁelds
- graphic layout
Your Excel file:
The schedule will be exported in a sheet with the same name of your schedule, a column “Id” will be added.
The locked cells are parameter values that cannot be modified by the user.
Import (watch the video)
This button will import the data in a worksheet of the linked Excel file into your Revit model and update the schedule.
- Open the schedule view.
- Click on G.plus tab >> Data management panel>> Import
Your Excel file:
The data to import should be in a sheet with carry the same name as your schedule. The following information will not be imported:
- values to read only parameters.
The linked schedule fields will be changed to match the column headings on the linked Excel file.
You can also:
- Add new elements of the following categories: rooms, spaces, areas and sheets. To do so, add a new line on your Excel sheet and write “add” in the “Id” column. (watch the video)
- Remove elements by deleting lines on the linked Excel sheet (watch the video)
- Add or remove fields by adding or deleting columns on the linked Excel file. (watch the video)
- Add new parameters to your file by adding a new column on the linked Excel file. (watch the video)
This command will allow you to manage the links between your model schedules and Excel files.
Click on G.plus tab >> Data management panel >> Sync All button.
- Select Revit schedules.
- Link them to an Excel file.
- Export and/or Import data.
This command allows you to animate your model by changing global parameters values and watch the transformation hapen in real time.
- Filtrate the global parameters in your model by the parameter kind.
- Scroll the parameter value between a minimum and maximum value
- Watch your model change
This command is available only when your model has at least 1 global parameter of kind: dimension, angle and/or integer.
You can assign different values to the minimum and maximum value of each parameter.
Displayed values are at the same display unit as the parameter. To change it please configure your model units.
Color filters (watch the video)
This command will create new color filters to identify elements of given categories determined by the parameter value that you have selected.
- Open a printable view;
- Click on G.Plus tab>> Graphic panel >> Color Filters
- Select the categories of the elements you want to visually identify;
- Select the view template where do you want to apply the new filters;
- Select the parameter you want to visually identify. (it can be a built-in parameter or a shared parameter, but project parameters will not be detected);
- Select if your elements should be visible cutted and/or in projection.
Color Legend (watch the video)
This command will apply a color legend to the active view.
The legend will be connected to your view template and it will illustrate the filters created by the command ‘Color filter’. Do not rename those filters manually or you color legends will not include the filter.
- Open a printable view;
- Click on G.Plus tab>> Graphic panel >> Color Legend
- Pick a point to place the new color legend instance in the active view.
- You can customize the title of your legend.
View duplicate (watch the video)
- Open a printable view;
- Click on G.Plus tab>> Graphic panel >> View Duplicate
- Select the view to duplicate.
- Select the duplication mode – duplicate, with details, as dependent. 3D views will not be duplicated in ‘as dependent mode’.
- Customize the new set of views ‘Visible design’ option.
- Customize the new set of views ‘Template’.
- Customize the new set of views ‘Phase’.
- Rename the new set of views by adding or replacing a suffix or a prefix to the new views name.
- Create a new print set for your new set of views.
- Why can’t I change the grey cells values in Excel?
Those values are not user modifiable in Revit. It prevents to create errors when importing.
- When I export my schedule, some fields disappear.
This function doesn’t export calculated fields neither combined fields.
- Why is my schedule layout not exported into Excel?
This function only allows you to link the information between Excel and a Revit schedule. It is not possible to import/export visual or graphic data. Nonetheless you can use this database to create a pivot table in excel (see link)
- I’ve changed the values of my element parameter, why can’t I see any changes on screen?
The color filter command only creates the filters for the values at the moment you use it. If you want to change these values or parameters, you need to redo-it in one of the views where you have your color legend.
- One or more filters are not visible in the color legend.
Check that you have not renamed the filter – the filters created by the command “Color filter” should not be renamed manually.
