Meet our team
To address the lack of digital tools offering solutions to speed up the creative process of architectural teams, etc-tec decided to aggregate expertise of the research, software engineering and customized support fields, to develop an artificial intelligence dedicated to BIM, and fully integrated to REVIT.

Meet our founders
Co-founder and CTO
Amílcar is the one to talk to about BIM and Generative Design.
Throughout his studies and until he graduated in 2009, Amílcar took a special interest in digital tools and their impact in the creative process.
His master’s thesis, «Hypersurface: A morphogenesis process in architecture» explores the symbiosis between the architect and generative algorithms. The first algorithm he develops is for Grasshoper, and allows to study urban developments. In his thesis develops the original concept of the Expression Test Cycle creative process that is now applied to the etc tools.
In 2010, working for the SEED studio in Barcelona, Amilcar keeps on developing algorithms for Rhino & Grasshopper, now paying more interest to the energetic optimisation of architectural concepts.
In Portugal, he starts the R&D Association Loop in 2011, focusing on experimental design. Loop provides training programs & consulting services, specialising
in parametric studies to Universities and architects.
Amílcar gets involved with several architects’ teams in 2012, and start testing the etc methodology while further developing the parametric tools he started drafting.
Working at AZC, he’s in charge of the international competitions collaborating with AZC team will win several awards along the way.
In 2014 he became the head of the IT Research & Development department at Atelier Michel Rémon where he encounters Clara Euler.
Meanwhile Amílcar decides to focus on Revit, the BIM methods that are increasingly being used in agencies, and starts developing the etc plugins for Revit. The first
version of G.Algo is released in 2017 and Amílcar puts it to test in several projects at the Atelier Michel Rémon.
Satisfied with the obvious results, the production speed is greatly boosted.
In January 2019 Amílcar and Clara co-founded etc-tec.
Co-founder and CCI
Clara is always on the road and connected to tell you all about etc-tec.
Clara studied architecture for three intense weeks at the Ecole d’Architecture de Strasbourg and realised very quickly she did not have the patience to design buildings.
Instead she went on to studying English, Publishing and Communications, as well as Cinema.
After working for various companies (Bayard, MK2, IEFP), she sneaked in the Architecture world again as a communication manager at VIB Architecture, and then Michel Remon & Associes.
After a few years spent building websites, producing assets, organizing visits and shooting on building sites in Paris, she decided to go freelance to combine her skills with her love of a nomadic life – Clara is one of those annoying snowflakes who want to be nowhere and everywhere at the same time.
When Amilcar suggested to get onboard to work on a new methodology and promote new tools, it was an obvious choice to say yes!
A keen traveler, Clara is most comfortable working from the most random offices – aka trains, co-working spaces or cafés: after all it’s the best way to meet new people and therefor new projects.
Now mostly based in London, Clara can often be found on the Eurostar, complaining about the bad wifi reception but still hoping the checks at the customs won’t make her late for appointments after Brexit happens!
She’ll happily answer your questions so feel free to drop her an email and/or add her on LinkedIn.
Bill is taking care of our well-being at the office and he will give you BIM tips every month in our blog.
Bill has very few interests in life, and BIM is not necessarily one them, let’s be honest. He likes having his belly rubbed, eating anything on the floor and resting in very strange positions. As he sleeps about 18 hours a day, he only has 2 hours to take care of our well-being at the office.
He’s learning on the job, but aren’t we all?
Bill is a lot of fun to watch, so we can’t promise there won’t be lots of pictures involving him on our Instagram account. Sorry.
